The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń was established in 1993 on the basis of the Institute of Mathematics as a result of the division of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, which had been functioning at UMK for over 40 years. The Faculty is located in a building at Chopin Street 12/18, which has served the Institute of Mathematics since the 1970s, and was significantly expanded between 2005 and 2007.
The Faculty has a cathedral structure and currently employs over 80 academic teachers, including nearly 30 individuals in the positions of professor or university professor.
Research in the field of mathematics and computer science is conducted at the Faculty, as well as studies in data analysis, computer science, mathematics, and applied mathematics.
